We want to ensure you have an enjoyable and safe swim; our policy is as follows:

  • Children under 2 must be closely supervised at all times by an adult (aged 16 or over) on a 1 adult to 1 child basis.
  • Children between the ages of 2 and 8 must be closely supervised at all times in the pool by a responsible adult (aged 16 or over), at a ratio of 1 adult to 2 children.
  • Children aged 8 to 11 must pass a swim test before they can swim without adult supervision in the pool! Please ask for details at the pool reception.

To be clear. Closely supervised means in the water with the children. We will not allow people into the facility unless we are happy that the safe swim policy ratios are met. We don’t want disappointed children or create angry parents so please don’t come unless you can meet the ratios.

Examples:

A 1-year-old and a 3-year-old would require Two adults

Two 2-year-olds would require One adult

Two 6-year-olds and an 8-year-old who can’t pass a swim test would require One adult (all 3 children need to stay with that adult in the water)

A swim test consists of a swimmer being asked to swim 50 metres in a recognised stroke. Our staff will assess this. Passing this will allow those swimmers past the non-swimmer signs and into the deep end of the pool. For 8 to 11-year-olds, it will also mean that they don’t need to be under parental supervision in the pool.
